This week’s theme is pizza!! I think it will be my all-time favorite.
Yesterday Dan & I went down to Williamsburg to meet up with his parents who were there for the weekend. It was a beautiful drive followed by a yummy lunch at the Mother In Law of the Year awards banquet. After lunch we spent some time browsing through the stores, which fueled me with ideas for some jewelry and handmade gifts I want to attempt to create this holiday season.
Saturday night was game night at a friend’s house. I was the champ, walking away with gold medals in Apples to Apples and Cranium Pop 5. I also snuggled with a pit bull.

This morning I pulled the heathen card and skipped church. It was a much needed few hours at home alone. I did things like laundry, go to the store and snuggle with cats.
Twice this weekend I was the recipient of once-loved, but now unwanted clothing from female friends. I love receiving handme downs! Even when I still lived at home I would take my sister’s clothes when she grew tired of them. Now I have added a few pretty shirts and skirts to my wardrobe that will be perfect for work. To compliment my new clothes I bought 2 pairs of boots today and made myself a matching necklace & earring set over the weekend.
I also kicked ass in fantasy football. Man Eaters #1!!!
Our potluck dinner for this week is going to have a Mexican theme. Chips, salsa, burritos y mas, on Thursday evening at our house. Show up anytime after 6:30. Hopefully we’ll start to eat a little after 7:00. We’ll eat, chill and watch The Office.
The Farrell’s will be providing soup, salad & bread at dinner this week. If you are coming and want to post what you are bringing, you can leave a comment here.
Too many blogs:
I use Google Reader to keep up with the blogs I like. When I wasn’t working I added a lot of blogs and would read them throughout the day. But, now that I am gone from 8-5:30ish each day, I come home and am faced with 40+ unread blogs. It is a blog-overload, not to be confused with cuteoverload.
Shared-Meal:
For a few years now we’ve been wanting to have a weekly shared meal at our house, you know, a potluck (like the one at the Catrow House, but in Church Hill and with cats). The dinner would be once a week at our house. Ideally, everyone would bring some food/drink to share. Then we eat and visit with each other. If you think you’d like to come to some of the dinners, help us pick out a night of the week and we might start next week.
Fall:
I love the fall. After visiting my in-laws I was inspired to put up some fall decorations around our house. But, then I realized that meant I’d probably have to clean my house because people don’t really decorate dirty houses, right?
Last night:
Yesterday after work I stopped at a Starbucks to get coffee with a friend. Little did I know it was the world’s worst Starbucks. They were understaffed and it took 10 mins to get my drink that wasn’t made correctly. At least the conversation was good. Then we went to a friend’s house for homemade sushi and wine. I was so tired that I fell asleep in the car as Dan drove from the Fan to Church Hill.
Today:
I slept in. Dan is building a fence. The chore-list is too long. I should workout. I’m going to Petersburg to find vintage jewelry. We have 1 dinner, 1 party, and 1 game night to attend this evening, all in different parts of town.
Our friend Scott came down from Baltimore to spend the weekend with us. Today Dan & Scott went to a top-secret round table discussion about world domination. Now we are going out for coffee to pump us up about all the cool stuff we are going to do tonight.
Tomorrow Dan is leading the discussion at church. After church we will watch some football and hope that I continue to DOMINATE my fantasy football league. Did I mention that I’m the only girl in the league and my team name is Man Eater…..
Now that I’ve been working for a week I’m going to try to schedule the rest of my life. Like, working out. I may check out some yoga studios in Petersburg. I also want to finally schedule a book club dinner.
On Saturday I raced home from Narrows, picked up Dan, and met some friends at the Rappahannock River.
We spent the afternoon relaxing by the river. It was beautiful and peaceful. That evening we went out to dinner and enjoyed watching our friends eat steamed crabs while we split a veggie burger & hush puppies.
Sunday morning I couldn’t get it together and also felt very anti-social, so I skipped church. With intentions of spending the morning reading, I laid down on the couch and slept until the day’s football games started. The rest of the day was spent by me finding various positions to lay on the couch while eating cereal and watching football.
Today I woke up super early, hit the gym, and came home to hang out with our friend Avery.

Now I’m trying to prepare for a job interview I have tomorrow! By preparing, I mean I am asking everyone I know to cross their fingers, pray to their God(s), and send lots of good thoughts my way around 10:30 tomorrow morning.
Last night we went to the Richmond Braves game and it rained.

After watching the rain and drinking $2 beer for a while we went to BWs to drink $4 beer. While at BW’s we saw Elvis playing a video game. The King graciously stopped his game to take a picture with us.
Today I have been reflecting on the beautiful weekend that I just experienced. My good friend Alisha is getting married next month and her bachelorette party was this past weekend. I hope everyone knows what it is like to have a friend so special to them that they live for moments like this, moments when they get to celebrate happiness and joy in the lives of their friends. I cherish Alisha, especially since she has been so caring of me for these past few months and therefore, this weekend was important and meaningful for me because I got to celebrate my friend.
It was the perfect bachelorette party. Alisha invited 7 of her lady friends for a weekend of wine tasting in Charlottesville. The vineyards we visited had incredible wine and gorgeous views. I’m sure the view will be even more breath-taking this fall as the leaves change.
We spent the afternoon taking in the beauty of mountains and life of the wine. That evening we had a meal that was so good and plentiful that we couldn’t do anything other than get back to our hotel and go to bed. The next morning we woke up, ate brownies for breakfast, and spent a couple of hours playing at the pool. I’ve never been on a trip with so many women that didn’t really know each other. But we got along beautifully and had fun celebrating together. We will all get to gather again in a month at Alisha & Casey’s wedding, where I’m sure we will be drinking more wine.
